The Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Lakshmibai College :
As the upcoming academic year approaches, along with the ceaseless activities regarding the admissions procedure, the college gears up for the much- awaited and much- anticipated Golden Jubilee Year ahead of us. The college intends to commemorate the innumerable achievements of its committed educators, zealous students and efficient support staff. The college website is in the process of being re-designed to this effect:
A tree plantation drive would be held on 21 July 2014, the Orientation Day of College.
The year 2014-15 would herald the following events:
1. UGC sponsored six National Seminars in the departments of Commerce, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History;
2. Health Mela;
3. Sports Festival; and
4. Inter-college administrative staff Cricket Tournament
Lakshmibai College boasts of many achievements:
1. Govt. of NCT, Delhi, Directorate of Higher Education released an amount of Rs. 10,000/- to meritorious student—Naina Grover—for securing an-above 90% score at the undergraduate level.
2. The following Sports students deserve special mention:
3. Ritu Dhruv: Represented Indian Women’s Cricket Team against Bangladesh 2013;
4. Sushma: Secured the gold medal in BMC Grand Prix Athletics in 800m in London 2008;
5. Jyoti Lohiya: Became Bharat Kesri 2012 and secured the gold medal in the Centenary Cup Wrestling Competition in South Africa 2005;
6. Sunita: Secured five gold medals and one silver medal at the 17th Asia Masters Athletics Championship in Taiwan 2012;
7. Pushpa Bisht: Secured the gold medal in World Police and Fire Games in USA 2001; and
8. Jyoti Bisht: Participated in Airtel Delhi International Half Marathon 2009.
9. Our NCC students have done us proud: CDT Shivani Chaudhari and CDT Minakshi participated in the NCC Contingent at Rajpath in the Republic Day Parade.
Grants Awarded to College:
1. UGC-sponsored National Conference on E-Business Issues and Challenges in Indian Perspective;
2. The University of Delhi sanctioned a project on Understanding the Potential Determinants of Obesity among school-going adolescents in Delhi; and
3. A one-lakh grant—for workshops and seminars—received under Plan XII. The money was allocated equitably to each department for the above-mentioned purpose.
